A potent mix for a cocktail of violence – take one unstable and dysfunctional person, add unrestricted access to firearms, mix slowly then add a political rally and a pinch of attention seeking and shake vigorously until turns blood red.

When are politicians and lobbyists alike ever going to learn. The right to bare arms has no place in any forward thinking nation which wants its people to experience global peace in our time.

External acts of violence are symptomatic of the sickness which pervades the world in these times. The human species has gotten so far off-track that nothing short of a major global disaster is going to wake us up from our deep nightmarish sleep.

It is interesting that it takes a major calamity for people to stop and reflect on what is actually going on around them.

We have become so busy at minding our own business that we have forgotten our bigger responsibilites to our families, friends, neighbours, communities, nations and the fragile world we live in.

Acts of insane violence are being perpetuated every minute of the day all over the world. Why?

The simple answer is that we do not love ourselves. If every human being loved and accepted themselves fully as spiritual beings having a human existence then there would be no violence, war, pollution, senseless destruction of our natural environment or indeed any other negative act.

Are the ancient’s prophecies about to come true in 2012 – global climate change, environmental disasters, violence, wars, genocide,  terrorism, stress, depression, poverty are all symptoms of a significant deterioration in our experience of life here on Planet Earth. Sounds a bit like Armageddon doesn’t ?

Change can only happen at the grass roots level. Be the change that you want for the world. If you want peace then be peaceful. We must before it is all too late take our share of the responsibility to effect change. No exuses, no blame. The buck has to stop with us individually if we are to find our way out of the nightmarish maze.
